My Dad Is Dead-Comes Alive

Thanks to those that have commented and emailed regarding source material for the live thing. So far nothing has come up that I didn't already have. I've spent the last few nights going through boxes of old cassettes and found a few interesting things.

First, a studio 2 track recording done at Beat Farm of a long practice recorded 5/89 just prior to the band's first European tour. This one has the "Shiner" lineup, Chris Burgess on bass and Scott Pickering on drums, with some pretty decent versions of songs from both the Taller and Details period. The sound quality is decent bootleg quality (think early Joy Division boots), with a harsher and more aggressive tone than the studio LP's. It is a practice, so there are some clams throughout, but there's enough material here to fill up a 70 minute CD, and I may make this available as an add-on for a few extra $ for those who order the new record directly from me when it comes out. I think there's enough there to please the Taller You Are period fans that never got to see the band live.

I've also stumbled across a good number of forgotten unreleased studio tunes from the period, some with vocals some without, and a handful of "demo" and alternate versions of songs from the Taller and Chopping records. However, there's reasons that each of them were left off the records to begin with. Still, there might be some interest there for long-time fans. There's also about a dozen 4 track cassettes with song ideas. If I have a spare week or two I may start digging through those.. but I would imagine anything really worth anything probably made it past the 4 track stage.

I've also come up with about 2 dozen tapes of live shows, most of awful sound quality, but there might be some things worth saving there. More as it develops..
