The First Engine

Since there will be a few months before the new record is out there, I'll probably need to do something to keep your interest over that time. So, every once in awhile, I'll be posting some MDID thing or other here that you haven't heard. (like there isn't enough free music here already...) Last week it was Hurry Up, this week we have what was supposed to be the title track for Engine of Commerce. Recorded almost entirely on computer, this was scrapped due to a couple of mysterious dropouts that occurred during mixdown in the middle of the song, which, try as I might, could not be fixed. Hence the second of this particular group of instrumentals became the title track.

Cut

Given it's unconditional release from the upcoming CD., a song called Hurry Up. I love Scott's drumming on this, but it's the 13th best hitter on a 12 player lineup. Oh, by the way if Malkmus can get a thousand or so people to write about his new record 3 months before it's release, I figure I might as well give that a shot too. Here's the track listing for the upcoming CD. Since MDID was at the most 10% as popular as the Jicky one, I expect to see this posted on at least 100 music blogs by Monday night:

My Dad is Dead - A Divided House (June 2005)

Unmade
The Ladder
Down Is Up
Consequences
My Safe Place
Novocain
The Maze of My Mind
43 Candles
Oasis
Once You Know
A Divided House
